White Weddings
January 5, 2019 — also known as the day I said “I do” to my wedding dress at White Weddings! Before I started shopping for wedding gowns, I thought I was going to have the most difficult time finding a dress that I knew was “the one.” I envisioned myself scheduling appointments at dozens of bridal boutiques in search of the perfect dress without ever really feeling like I found the right one. If you don’t know by now, I’m extremely particular when it comes to important decisions like this so I prepared myself for a looong journey to find my dream dress.
The first (and last) appointment we scheduled was at White Weddings in Valdosta, Georgia (where we live). This was the first time my mom and I ever shopped for wedding gowns so we were a little nervous and didn’t really know what to expect. We entered the boutique and browsed through hundreds of stunning gowns, pulling dresses that resembled photos I pinned on Pinterest or cut out of magazines (yes I still do that!) and our consultant, Natalie Roberts, pulled dresses that she thought would be perfect for me.
Long story short, I only tried on about six or seven dresses before I found THE dress! This was after I already told myself that I would not, under any circumstances, choose a dress during my first try-on appointment. After trying on all of the dresses that I “knew” would be perfect for me, I tried on Natalie’s pick and couldn’t stop smiling. I tried on my favorites for a second time and, of course, I loved them all, I mean every gown in White Weddings is absolutely stunning, but when I put on the Martina Liana gown that Natalie chose it was a different feeling. I went from feeling pretty in the other gowns to getting J. Lo goosies and tearing up, being able to clearly see myself in that dress on my wedding day. It’s so funny to me that you think you know your body and what’s going to look best on it but when it comes to bridal, it’s a different world. I can’t imagine not having amazing, talented women like our bridal consultant, Natalie Roberts, and owner of White Weddings, Brooke White, to help guide me with their extraordinary ability to know what you want and need before you do.
I’m getting emotional just writing this because it was such a special time for me and my mom and I can’t imagine anything else being more perfect. You all know that I have loved fashion my entire life, so much that I created a business out of it. To find the wedding gown of my dreams in Valdosta, Georgia, is honestly something I didn’t expect to happen, but after visiting White Weddings for the first time, I was blown away by the variety of gowns and how skilled and fashionably well-versed everyone was. We may live in a small town but that in no way means that our fashion sense is lacking in ANY way. I couldn’t have found a more perfect or better-suited dress for me in New York or Paris. I am so proud to have had the opportunity to work with these women at White Weddings who are so knowledgeable about what they do and so passionate about fashion and staying current and classic at the same time.
If you’re newly engaged and shopping for your dream dress in the Valdosta, GA or Tallahassee, FL (White Weddings has a bridal boutique there too!) area, I highly encourage you to schedule an appointment at White Weddings. Above — me in my dream dress at my first fitting! Fun fact: before I started dress shopping, I didn’t want a dress that was fitted, had lace or even a train. In reality, I NEEDED all of it! The Martina Liana gown I wore on my wedding day was something so beyond my expectations—glamorous and traditional, dramatic and subtle, sexy and sweet—the perfect composition of complementary opposites!
